Mental Health Training and Psychopharmacology Education for Primary Care

The PAL team provides CME-approved trainings for primary care providers and healthcare professionals that are focused on mental health assessment and treatments. Each training is a full day and limited to 30 attendees:

The PAL team will present in the morning from 8am-12pm on the following:
  • Overview of the Psychiatric Consultation Service and the importance of early identification of mental illness
  • Psychopharmacology (eg. Stimulants, SSRI's, SGA's, and Mood Stabilizers)
  • Metabolic Monitoring
  • Pharmacogenomics testing
  • Community Resources, Fast-TrackerMN.org, and collaborative care models​

A Nationally Certified Trauma Therapist will present in the afternoon from 1-5pm:
  • Psychotherapeutic modalities with a particular focus on evidence-based practices
  • Appropriate screening, referral and treatment of traumatic stress in children and youth
  • Ensuring adequate assessment and the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in children and youth (e.g., differential diagnosis, alternatives to pharmaceutical treatments, etc.) ​

​Please Note: This training is intended for physicians and other prescribers. Non-prescribing providers are welcome to attend if space is available, but non-prescribing provider registrations will not be confirmed until one week before the training.
This Live activity, Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Mental Health Treatment Education for Prescribers, from 11/21/2019 - 11/20/2020, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 7.50 Elective credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
